A few minutes north of downtown Orlando expected Winter Park, a charming picturesque suburb steeped in history. After my tour of the scenic boat trip, my local expert Wanda Salerno took me to a city stroll past beautiful historic neighborhoods.

With origins as a citrus growing region, Winter Park became an important destination for wealthy northerners during the year 1900, which came to town by train to reach their winter shelters chic, seeking refuge from the cold northern winters. Elegant and stately mansions and old oak trees covered with Spanish moss bear witness to this historical time.

Wanda took me through some hidden courtyards Winter Park, which is
full of retail shops and art galleries. Winter Park offers a variety of galleries I had the opportunity to try three of them, all of which led to very different works of art:

– Scott Laurent Collection
– Native Visions Gallery
– Timothy

Our walk took us out on the main street of Winter Park, Park Avenue, home to 10 blocks of specialty shops, galleries and restaurants eclectic. Park Avenue is flanked on its west side of Central Park, which offers a welcome haven of relaxation with its graceful fountain, paths and benches in the shade.

We then set about exploring Casa Feliz ( "Happy House" in Spanish), the signature residential work of renowned architect James Gamble Rogers II.

In 1932, Robert Bruce Barbour, a chemical engineer from Massachusetts, Rogers, charged with designing a home on Lake Osceola, which proved the Andalusian farmhouse masonry style we see today. This house was not only appreciated by Barbour, but by the community. Throughout its history, has hosted garden club tours, concerts symphony orchestra, poetry, social gatherings and a dinner of author Sinclair Lewis.

In 2001, in order to prevent the house from demolition, Casa Feliz was transferred through Interlaken Avenue to its present location on Park Avenue. This movement was one of the most dramatic events in Winter Park history. Casa Feliz was transferred on 20 tire dollies stabilized, and an elaborate pulley system moved into the house about 75 meters per hour. After the house was in the position its new location, artisans worked on the restoration to its original condition, 1933. A landscape design was charged to reflect the style of the period.

Today, Casa Feliz is available to rent for weddings, parties, business meetings and events. Its unique features provide the perfect setting for a memorable event.

As the center of local culture, Winter Park also has three well-known museums:

– The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art, which has the world's most comprehensive collection of works by Louis Comfort Tiffany, including Tiffany's 1893 Chapel. The museum also features paintings, furniture and other works on all the ages 19 and 20.

– The Albin Polasek Museum and Sculpture Garden: 3 acres of gardens with sculptures and painters by Albin Polasek. The museum is included in the National Register of Historic Places.

– The Cornell Fine Arts Museum, which focuses on the world of 20th century Western art and includes paintings, drawings, sculptures and other works of art in America and Europe. This museum is located at Rollins College, a leading Rated liberal arts colleges in the country.

Park Historical Museum Winter examines various historical periods of trade exhibitions and rotating displays highlight some of the changes that have happened in Florida central.

While exploring the city my husband actually played a round of golf at the 9-hole Winter Park Country Club, located inside the wonderful historic Winter Park neighborhood. The WPCC is the second oldest club in the Central Florida area and makes its way through downtown Winter Park and is a challenge even for the more experienced golfer. He enjoyed his departure, at a cost of $ 12, was a departure in a very affordable golf course in good condition.

We crowned our trip with a nice dinner at a restaurant called 310 Park Avenue, right on the main strip of Winter Park. While much of the Orlando area is very new, Winter Park is an oasis of history and environment that is perfect for a day of sightseeing.
