Sings the Poetry of Walt Whitman

Sings the Poetry of Walt Whitman

$3.83

This dashing and intelligent tribute to Walt Whitman’s poetry as art song puts commitment to artistry at center stage. With uncommon sensitivity and magnificent voice, Thomas Hampson lovingly interprets 22 songs by various composers, successfully capturing the emotional range of the American bard’s verse by delicately caressing the poetry and, alternately, igniting its every nuance. These son…

The Sermon on the Mount: The Key to Success in Life

$10.99

The Sermon on the Mount–now passing its 65th birthday–remains a vital and provocative introduction to the ideas at the heart of Christian Science. At heart it means to be entirely practical, as the “Science” of the name would indicate. Denying any interest in theology (there is no theology in the Bible, Fox argues), the author instead suggests that what Jesus was after was results: “Jesus explai…

YOU NO, NO, NOT what you dream

You no, no, not what you dream.
It is accepted that one can not be pure.
Moreover, there are sins that would redeem,
Knowing that their world remains secure.
In you there is a desire to be known,
Looked right through, as the sun lights up a room,
As promised to atone,
Understood and loved by one whose punishment
Remains wet, not yet hardened into rock.

YOU CAN NOT THINK THE BOOK OF LIFE TO CLOSE

You can not think the book of life closes.
Opportunity must look a right.
Most days contain a trace paradise,
Turn the hope that God is good
Instead of simply or love or pure light.
Prepare for what is not what we propose:
Perhaps you think your prayers will be sufficient,
Pour out your heart with little hungry.
Repentance requires much more than you think.

She had no illusions

She had no illusions.
She knew that the Winter's Tale.
On and on the fragile boat
He sailed among the stars.

He managed without hope
But could not part with dreams,
And as the earth came to her cry
He drank the bitter sea.

A SUDDEN Halloween BOO!

Halloween is a sudden BOO!
And soon a cry:
Laughing in the dark, fear,
Scare Easy Loving.
On Halloween, witches come true;
Wild ghosts escape from dreams.
Each monster dances in the park,
Eating candy like a shark —
Now kiss and say goodnight!

MENTAL ILLNESS NOT TOUCH THE SOUL

Mental illness does not touch the soul
Although punishing the mind.
Neither can the adventures of the wind,
Though winter, and storms are prevalent.
All the suffering innocent are
Love waits for the window, even so,
Inside the heart, where it has complete control,
Longing never, never unresigned.
Let go of fear, and follows, then, her path,
Neither more nor less constrained than
Embraced by the gods less implacable in his anger.
Sing with courage by the rows of his ills,
Savoring a grace that comes and goes.

JODY AND BLUE

Jody and Blue have much to do
On his way happily married,
Determined to be recovered by the sea
However, confined to a bed.

Bright days and nights you can have no lights;
Love works well, if by the will, in the dark.
Undo the pain of frustration and tension,
Each arrow is always on target.

Care to join me outer space

Care to come with me into outer space?
In the wings that will fly through a vacuum,
Landing in a wilderness of wonders.
Unchain themselves from now on! The predator now
More than you think, dreams destroyed
For mazes no desire can be traced.
Ultimately, pursuing the grace
Requested by the heart, or finds himself employed
Doing what you should be wasted sweet substance.
As in my time, big seas, no candles,
Do, however, the winds that drive the race.
