Independent Intavenshan is a two-fisted blast of LKJ’s smoldering patois poems backed by the liquid rhythms of Dennis Bovell’s Dub Band. Including all four of LKJ’s Island albums–Forces of Victory, Bass Culture, LKJ in Dub, …

The long awaited CD "dual approach" by the Tanzanian poet and musician Ras Nas aka Nasibu Mwanukuzi set of liberation in Oslo, Norway, in November this year. The CD contains music and spoken word. Recorded at Oslo urban sound by legendary engineer Jock Loveband recording, "Double Focus" brings together musicians from Mali, South Africa, Norway, Bangladesh and Brazil. The poems are based on an anthology of Nasibu poetry published by Kongoi Productions in 1989.

Double Focus is a continuation of the old tradition African oral narrative through poetry, but one more step. The Ngoni, an ancient stringed instrument from Africa performed by Sidiki Camara of Mali, creates a soft, dreamlike mood on two tracks. The African marimba by Zwai Mbula of South Africa offers a strong warm groove on some other tracks, while the strange and inventive saxophonist Rolf-Erik Nystrøm of Norway gives a dual energy truly original approach. The Assembly of the Brazilian Amazon and singer of Bangladesh Kohinoor have participated, making "dual approach", a universal product rarely worth having for any lover of music and poetry.

Nasibu began to recite poetry with Sayari, a group combining poetry, mime, music and dance in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, in the 80s. Among the highlights was reciting one of his poems, "June 16 – Memories of Soweto" by Nelson Mandela in Oslo in 1992. – "After the performance Mr. Mandela personally encouraged me to continue to write and recite poetry. That was one of the best moments of my life, "says Nasibu has also produced two albums under the name of artist, Ras Nas. The albums, which have been highly acclaimed by critics music, are "Cut You Loose" and "Dar-es-Salaam".

Nasibu most influential poets came from Kwesi Brew, Keorapetse William Kgositsile and Langston Hughes, the three masters in the art of creating paintings in the form of words. Nasibu Mwanukuzi, incidentally also a painter in the traditional sense, speaks with a raw voice and honest about matters of the heart, injustice, and life.

These powerful a combination of issues with the actions of both inspired and his musicians Nasibu are what make this album unique and original. "Dual approach" will soon be available on CD Baby, ITunes and Amazon, among other music stores.
