Caracol Festival, Gardens Elisis Camps, Lleida, Spain, May 21 – 23. Eating snails is not an exclusively Gallic phenomenon, as some 12,000 people in the Catalan city of Lleida test. Every May, people are united by snail enthusiasts for Spiral Festival, or the Caragol Aplec. About 12 tons of exotic shellfish are eaten (along with some favorite sauces Lleida) during the three days of the festival.
